Help needed on Sunday.

The annual 5K fun run in aid of the school will be held this Sunday at 12:30am.

As always the Parents association will be helping out with refreshments on the day.  We expect 200+ participants so we need help to serve all these people.  If you can help please do.  In particular we need:
- People to bake scones. Scones have become sort of the trademark of this fun run and we want to continue this. If you can bake some and drop them into the hall on Sunday from 10:30am that would be a huge help.

- People to help serve the food. We will have 200+ people descend on us over a very brief period. It is a lot of work to make sure they all get fed and have tea/coffee.  If you can help out for an hour over this period please come along.

Thanks

Annual 5K fundraising road race

The annual 5K road race is on this Sunday. As in past years the Parents Association will be providing refreshments for the runners and walkers. If you can help in any way please do but in particular if you can bake some scones that would be really appreciated as these have been a big hit with the runners in the past.

Garden Opening

The school will be holding the official garden opening on Friday the 19th of June. There is a lot of activity happening there at the minute and it is really coming together. The plants will be going in this week. They may need a hand early next week just to help tidy the place up a bit. The school will be sending a general invite to all the parents, P.A, B.O.M and anyone who has worked and volunteered in the garden. Representatives from Mercks will be there also. Eileen Condon will be doing catering and may need a hand with this on the day so if anyone is available to help that would be very much appreciated.

Racenight cheque presentation.

Following the recent fundraising Racenight held in conjunction with the local GAA the school raised over €2500.  Thanks to all those who contributed and/or helped out. The money raised has allowed us to purchase a new interactive whiteboard meaning all class rooms now have an interactive whiteboard.
Michael Keating, Chairman of Newcastle GAA presents the cheque to Claire Maloney, Principal, Newcastle NS

Sensory Garden Update.

A lot of work done on the new Sensory Garden over the summer. It has been a slow process and very time consuming for those involved but it will be worth it in the end. The area has been landscaped and grass seeds were sown a few weeks ago and are already very green.

Planting will begin shortly and the kids will become more involved from here on in.

Thanks to all who have helped and contributed so far.
